Photo Collection: Jill (Standard) Doak
(Grandfather: Harold Standard: Company M, 317th Infantry Regiment)

A small bin of photos, documents and memorabilia was retained by Harold after the war, and then by his wife, Leona, after his death. Upon the death of Leona, those materials were inherited by Harold's grandson, Jeff Standard. His sister, Jill (Standard) Doak has become the family genealogist, and in 2024 scanned Harold's photos and documents and compiled a summary of Co M, 317th Infantry movements from Jan to May 1945 from Morning Logs. Harold's military records are among those that did not survive the NPRC fire. Jill and Jeff Standard never knew their grandfather since he died before they were born, and when their own father was only 20, and this has led to great curiosity about Harold's life and experience in World War 2.
